PALISADES, NY, March 15, 2020 The inaugural Low Carb New York event scheduled to be held July 16-19, 2020 at the HNA Palisades Premier Conference Center in Palisades, NY, has suspended registration sales until April 15 in light of recent developments brought about by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Conference organizer Dr. Tro Kalayjian, DO, said Sunday that the decision was made in order to ensure the conference does not endanger the safety of participants and fully complies with all regulations.

“This is a fast-evolving situation,” said Kalayjian, “and we are monitoring the advice coming from the CDC, as well as the regulations being enacted by our local, state, and federal governments. Our concern is for the safety and health of our attendees, presenters, and sponsors, and to avoid any situations where our event contributes to the spread of this virus.”

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, in an announcement made Thursday said “We are taking new actions to reduce the density of people across the state. Starting Friday (March 13), gatherings of more than 500 people or more will not be permitted in New York State. Additionally, for facilities with an occupancy of 500 people or fewer, we are reducing the legal capacity by 50%.”

The capacity of the Low Carb New York conference was 500 when the event was announced last December, but the governor’s new executive order, if it were to remain in place, would limit the event’s attendance to 250. “We have no way of knowing what the situation will look like in July,” Kalayjian said, “but we will reevaluate how we plan to move forward in the coming weeks.”

The Low Carb New York conference—organized by Dr. Tro’s Medical Weight Loss & Direct Primary Care, in partnership with The Fasting Method by IDM & LowCarbUSA—plans to feature keynotes and presentations on topics relating to low carb, keto, and fasting from some of the field’s leading experts and medical professionals.

Scheduled speakers include Tro Kalayjian, DO; Brian Lenzkes, MD; Megan Ramos, Nadia Pateguana, ND; Ben Bickman, PhD; Nina Teicholz; Nadir Ali, MD; Christian Assad, MD; Evelyne Bourdua-Roy, MD; David Unwin, MD; Jen Unwin, DPsy; Chris Palmer, MD; Mark Cucuzzella, MD; Aastha Kalra, MD; Cynthia Thurlow, NP; Robert Cywes, MD; Ted Naiman, MD; and Terri Lance, PhD.
